Teacher Notes functions as an easy way to file written notes, photos, movies or audio on multiple children, domains and content areas all at one time. You’ll find that Teacher Notes functions much more rapidly than jotting down notes on a clipboard and you’ll be able to find your notes much faster than looking in a notebook.

Pros and cons of Teacher Notes app for iPhone and iPad

Teacher Notes app good for

If you are an elementary school teacher than this app is an awesome replacement for your anecdotal records of the past. Weve all tried stickies, clipboards, typing into the computer every night, and none work. This app allows you to enter the notes for each child, or groups of children, and file it by student, subject area and domain (which I have changed to be Learning Skills which is in-line with the Ontario curriculum). Ive taken more notes in the four weeks that Ive been back in my classroom than in the past 10 years of teaching. The best part is that I can use my notes! Having this data at my finger tips was amazing for writing my progress reports. I had the child specific observations to add into every subject area. I have shown this app to many teachers at my school since Ive started using it, and two have purchased iPads since then to use the app, and two more are planning on purchasing before Christmas. My only criticism is that when I try to delete the domain names that are already inputted, the app crashes. So in my domains, I have the original four areas, that I dont use, plus the areas that Ive entered.
Ive taken more notes in the past month than I have in my first five years of teaching. This app is exactly what Ive been looking for. Well worth the money. Some rough edges but the developer is very responsive and actively fixing any bugs that crop up. Other teachers Ive shown this to get very, very excited when they see what it can do. Try it out for a week. Youll see!
Great program and highly recommended for teachers who take a lot of notes. One problem I find is that removing unwanted or error filled comments very difficult. Highlight comment , buT deletes one above it. Also, when inputting comments, find it adds another date stamp that clogs up the comment section and have challenging deleting it. Other than that, very good @ sorting files, organizing students anecdotal notes
A great app. Just what I was looking for to organize anecdotal records for my Pre K classes.
Please add support for iOS 5 devices. I love this software and cannot purchase it because an older version isnt available.

Some bad moments

This app is not user friendly. Notes constantly vanish. Apple notes actually work better, it is free, and it auto saves!
Only can add one group before pop ups of purchasing . Not worth it.
Easy to use program except when it comes to retrieving photos and voice recordings. You should be able to view the student with all the comments and other data in one screen. I deleted this this app.
At first glance, this app seemed perfect. But you cant scroll down to add more notes. And on the notes screen if you swipe from right to left, there is a full blank page, Turns out you cannot do anything whatsoever, it does nothing. Very disappointing.
I go to a lot of meetings on individual students where decisions are made concerning how the students education will be given. At first I liked that I could make notes throughout the day and sort and file these at the end of the day. However, navigating this app is painful. I could never get "test" notes to delete, and the notes did not show up individually in student files. Way too much work when I still have a pen and paper.
I think theres a seriously good app hiding in here, but its usefulness is hindered by a terribly unintuitive interface paired with a mostly useless built-in help file (although the one at the bit.ly link in the description sheds better light on things). If it werent so clunky, I could see myself using something like this app all the time when I do classroom observations.
